Grady Bear Adventures would not be complete without the friendship and companionship of Grady Bear’s friends. In Grady’s First Day at School, we meet Grady’s first and most loyal sidekick: Deedee the Bee – a tiny, confident, quick-witted, go-getter bee.
Thanks to Deedee, we are introduced into the amazing world of insects.
For example, it is common knowledge that bears love honey, and that bees make honey. Sometimes, the bear’s love for honey causes a conflict between bears and bees. Which led the writer to ask, in the first place, do bees eat the honey they make? And if they do, do bees mind that bears and other animals taking their honey from them? Under what kind of circumstances would bees not mind that their honey is taken from them? Like how bee keepers do it?
In Grady’s First Day at School, we explore more of the world of bees and their honey made easy for our young readers to understand, and at the same time, allowing adults to slip in a conversation or two about bees and honey.
